What we do

A calendar that never sleeps

Nine signature programmes carry CUMUNA through the year — sharpening delegates, serving the community, and binding generations of members together.

The civil war in CUMUNA

Intra CUMUN

The premier internal diplomatic simulation hosted annually by the Chittagong University Model United Nations Association within the university campus. Built to develop intellectual diplomatic clashes and induce MUN knowledge, it is also affectionately known as the "civil war in CUMUNA." Intra CUMUN is already into its 8th edition as of 2025.

Four phases. One family.

Recruitment

CUMUNA has been concise and cautious about recruiting its future constituents and stakeholders. For that very reason, CUMUNA recruits its members through a four-phase evaluation framework. Applicants are cross-examined based on their credentials and willingness to join the club. Afterwards, a screening exam, viva and finally a focus-group discussion test the caliber of each applicant. A newly recruited member becomes a general member and is promoted to associate member after a three-month probationary period.

Recruitment usually takes place once every year, after the newly admitted batch settles into campus. Running consecutively for more than a decade, CUMUNA recruitment has become a paramount event for testing caliber and potential within the campus premises.

Where every tenure is weighed and renewed

Annual General Meeting

It is duly important to CUMUNA that the year-round performance of members and the club collectively is assessed — and that new leadership is brought in as the former make their way. As the club elapses one more year, the AGM reflects on new affiliations and successes across campus and the country. Members grow with the club, and the reminiscence of anecdotes from their MUN journey is the spark that inspires the next generation of delegates — showing them that the true value of MUN lies not in the gavels won, but in the stories created along the way.

The new governing body is elected with the votes of Associate, Executive, Governing Body and Trustee Board members, replacing the former governing body for a tenure of 365 days. The voting procedure is conducted by an election board of three members, usually consisting of Alumni and Trustees.

Breaking fast, binding generations

Iftar Mahfil

The gracious days of Ramadan are the perfect time to illustrate the club members' mutual religious values and interests. The CUMUNA Iftar Mahfil is an important event that gathers Alumni and contemporary members, binding them together to break their fast and reflect upon past club operations in the new tenure. The day is filled with the warmth of alumni and associate member interaction — and a few mini games.

Eid is for everyone

Project Hashimukh

Eid comes with sharing happiness, and CUMUNA members know it in their spirit. For that very reason, the club has consistently organised this event every year, bringing smiles to children in need and orphans. Eid is for everyone — but not everyone can celebrate due to financial constraint, and that is even harder for orphaned children. Project Hashimukh is where club members work to light up the faces of children in need and inspire others to do the same. One of the charismas of an ideal leader is to meet the needs of those who require assistance — CUMUNA knows and practices it.

A one-of-a-kind social gathering

Family Day

Envisioned by the founders of CUMUNA, Family Day is the amalgamation of the families of CUMUNA members. It's a day filled with festive mood and acknowledgement of accomplishments, where members enjoy themselves in a one-of-a-kind social gathering — a nonpareil, incomparable experience found nowhere else on a university campus. Members proudly receive their hard-earned recognition as secretariats of CUMUN conferences. It's a day to reimagine and reflect on the capabilities of a university student.

The CUMUNA podcast

UNscripted

CUMUNA maintains a year-round presence on both tangible and web-based platforms. One of its paradigms is UNscripted — a podcast series hosted by CUMUNA members. With more than twelve episodes, UNscripted has brought impactful guests and pressing topics like the economy, pedagogy, brain drain and extracurricular pursuits for Bangladeshi students.

Soft skills, job-ready

Professional Development Course

To create an engaging canvas, an artist must first hone the skills to make one. CUMUNA members are actively motivated to build a portfolio of soft skills that adds to their job readiness. The development course is a three-month programme ensuring participants learn to operate and craft with Microsoft and Adobe office applications, delivered entirely through online interfaces.

Every Thursday, without fail

Regular Sessions

CUMUNA holds its weekly session every Thursday. Regular sessions include MUN workshops, drills, mock MUNs and relevant contemporary seminars. The regular session also works as a cohort for soft-skill training workshops.
