For the tenth consecutive year, the Chittagong University Model United Nations Association brought together some of Bangladesh's brightest young minds for four days of diplomacy, debate, and deliberation. Held from January 28–31, 2026 on the campus of the University of Chittagong, the 10th edition of CUMUN marked a decade since CUMUNA first opened its committee chambers in 2015.

This year's conference drew over 400 delegates from approximately 40 institutions across Bangladesh — including the University of Dhaka, Jahangirnagar University, and Rajshahi University — alongside international participants from Africa, Afghanistan, Nepal, Malaysia, and beyond. Across four days, delegates representing countries from around the world engaged in rigorous diplomatic simulation across 10 committees, guided by the year's theme: "Reconfiguring Urban Governance and Socio-Spatial Justice through Transnational Cooperation."

At its core, CUMUN 2026 asked a generation of young leaders to confront the most consequential question of our urbanising world: who shapes our cities, and for whom? The answers — debated, challenged, and negotiated across committee chambers — reflected both the urgency of that question and the quality of those who took it on.

The conference was organised by a Secretariat Board of 100 members, a testament to the scale and ambition that has come to define CUMUN in its decennial year.

Behind the scenes

The Secretariat

CUMUN 2026 was brought to life by a Secretariat Board of 100 members — students of the University of Chittagong who spent months building every dimension of this conference from the ground up. Bearing responsibility for committee design, delegate coordination, logistics, publications, and hospitality, the Secretariat successfully translated a decennial legacy into the conference's most formidable staging yet.

Moments from CUMUN 2026

Opening Ceremony

There is a precise moment when months of administrative labor dissolve into the reality of the event itself. As proceedings for the tenth edition opened, dignitaries poised on the dais and delegates expectant in their seats, united by the quiet electricity of four days stretching ahead; a long horizon of intellectual challenge about to unfold.

Socials

The complete narrative of CUMUN 2026 extends far beyond committee transcripts to the informal networks built between sessions. This collaborative spirit was best captured during the cultural showcase, where the administrative structure of the conference dissolved into an evening of collective engagement. Through music, dance, stand-up comedy, and mime, the Secretariat and delegates came together to celebrate the creative talents within the circuit.

Closing Ceremony

The fall of the final gavel on January 31 brought the decennial session of the conference to a dignified close. Amid the presentation of awards and speeches, the ultimate objective of the assembly was realized as delegates crossed the threshold from strangers to colleagues. As the proceedings dissolved, CUMUN balanced the weight of a completed decade against the promise of the next, stepping seamlessly into its future.
